But who are we (working for)?

About Us and the charity

We play video games for 48 hours straight so that you don’t have to!
But we also take donations to help out a new charity every year.

Who is behind all of this?

We are an online community and parody army with members worldwide. Toy Soldiers Unite started out in 2006 with the goal to make the world a better place. Now, many years later, our community and ambitions keep growing bigger constantly. We have various projects and events going on on a regular base to make people’s lives better and richer, and to bring more joy and fun into this world. This also includes lots of charity work. With the Gaming Marathon we are aiming to have a greater impact on our surroundings, to make a notable change.

What are the numbers?

In 2014, Engineer Airhead had a brilliant idea: Why not use the growing popularity of Game Streaming to support a good cause and spread fun worldwide? Quickly, he organised the first of a series of events, even though back then he wasn’t quite aware of it. That year, we collected 1001 USD for Child’s Play and we decided to aim even higher.
In 2015, we managed to collect 1565 USD for Alzheimer’s Society. Even though that was much more than the year before, we felt that we could do better!
In 2016, we moved to a total of 2100 USD for Enable. Only proving that we can indeed do better with the right amount of support!
In 2017, we dropped down to 1701 USD for Mind, and unfortunately did not manage to reach our goal. But this didn’t stop us from trying again!

Every year we try to aim even higher. By contacting more sponsors, poking more streamers and providing more fun to the viewers!

Who we are:

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness. We award scientific research grants to improve treatment and ultimately develop cures and methods of prevention to enable people with mental health issues to live full, happy, and productive lives

What we do:

We support innovative research studies that offer the potential for breakthrough discoveries. The Foundation funds out of the box ideas to better understand the causes and develop new ways to effectively treat brain and behavior disorders. These disorders include addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

How we do it:

All Foundation Grantees are selected by our Scientific Council, an all-volunteer group of 176 pre-eminent mental health researchers representing every major discipline in brain and behavior research, including two Nobel Laureates and the current and four former Directors of the National Institute of Mental Health.
These distinguished leaders identify new research projects that may be unproven but offer potential for significant breakthroughs. The Scientific Council rigorously reviews and selects the most promising research proposals in which to invest, whether proposed by an early career scientist or an established scientist seeking to explore new paths.
